In the opening match of La Liga’s 17th round, relegation battlers Valencia and Mallorca will face off in a clash that could prove crucial for both sides.
Such a situation has become depressingly familiar for Valencia in recent seasons. A decade ago, Los Che were regular Champions League contenders, but this campaign tells a very different story. On paper, the teams look evenly matched, but Valencia should enjoy a narrow edge thanks to home support at Mestalla. That said, there is little to suggest a high-scoring affair. This feels like a tight, cautious encounter, with few chances and a slight tilt in favor of the Levantines.
